Manager Message

“The truth is: this job is not easy. But it is incredibly rewarding.”

AUBURN PETERSON

Earlier this summer, I had the honor of sitting on the Million Dollar Sales Panel at our conference—a session designed to give attendees a chance to hear directly from top-performing sales reps across the AlphaGraphics network. The room was filled with store owners, managers, and sales professionals—some just starting out, and some seasoned veterans.

In the month leading up to the panel, I found myself reflecting a lot—on my time at AG, the highs and lows of sales, and what lessons I could possibly share that might resonate. To be honest, I was nervous. I kept asking myself: “What can I say that will make a real difference? How can I tell the truth about this job without sugar-coating it?”

When it came time to speak, I decided to do what I always try to do—be direct, be honest, and be myself. Because the truth is: this job is not easy. But it is incredibly rewarding. And that’s the message I hoped came through—both on stage and now, as I share this with you.

Here’s what I told the audience—and what I hope our own sales team takes to heart:

  1. Be Yourself.
Yes, we have proven tools—Leadflow, processes, workflows. But the magic happens when you make those tools your own. Customers can sense when you’re uncomfortable or unsure. Show up as YOU. That’s your superpower.
  2. Success Takes Work.
Not endless hours. But the kind of work that requires you to push through doubt, dive into unfamiliar territory, and ask questions even when it feels uncomfortable. It’s easy to back away from what we don’t know. Be BRAVE.
  3. Never Stop Learning.
This one sparked the most post-panel questions from other reps. “What’s the one thing that helped you reach success?” My answer is simple: stay curious. This business changes constantly. Learn a new skill. Shadow another department. Study something you don’t understand. Growth comes from curiosity. Be CURIOUS.

I’ve told many of our peers this, and I’ll say the same to all of you: I’m always here—to answer questions, to share insight or tips, or just to listen when you’re having a tough week. Sales is a journey, and none of us are on it alone.

Here’s to an awesome August—keep being bold, keep being you.

With respect and appreciation,
Auburn Peterson

The DFL-500 offers the flexibility to foil or laminate digitally-printed applications with ease. Matte and gloss lamination can be used, providing an added-value layer of protection that also helps spot coating embellishments stand out. For toner foiling, the DFL-500 applies adhesive foil anywhere black toner is printed without the use of dies. Foiling on top polymer can also be done for a raised foil effect.

*Note: Dry coating film supply from Duplo USA has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Features

  • Dust removing and de-curling system featured in more expensive laminators
  • Easy job set up and changeover
  • Foiling with gold, silver, blue, green, red, and matte gold colors
  • Automatic film cutting system to separate laminated sheets

Project Spotlights

Adobe – VIP Giveaways

Adobe reached out wanting to curate a nice, meaningful set of giveaways for a VIP group at a recent event.  We worked with them to narrow the offering down to a high end Rubberized fidget spinner, a nice candle in an etched bamboo jar, an RFID wallet, these great Simply Modern tumblers and these show-stopping coins!  They are 2.5″ wide, and would have earned me every POG on earth back in Jr High school, haha!  The weight, the soft enamel and shaded silver on the one side, with the pop of this 3D molded, hyper detailed AND full color printed lion – just a game changing statement piece!  The recipients were, of course, thrilled, and we’re excited to jump into the next big dreamy job with them!

Built Bar – Sour Evaluator Sign

Our customer Built Bar wanted a sign that they could use for social media posts that included a slider. I asked CJ and Chase, at the South Salt Lake shop, if they had any ideas. They did.

Using coroplast, some magnets, and a 3D printer, they created a sign that the customer loved.
